Kobo Glo HD Reviews Roundup (Videos)

Kobo Glo HD

Since Kobo has little interest in the US market, I won’t be able to post a hands-on review of the new Kobo Glo HD, so I wanted to up together a roundup of reviews from some of the European ebook reader websites that have already posted them.

These reviews aren’t in English but you can use Google Translate to get an idea of the main points. And the YouTube videos provide a closer look at the Glo HD in action.

There’s also some quick comparisons between the Kindle Voyage and Kindle Paperwhite.

The Kobo Glo HD is going to be released on May 1st in North America, Australia, and New Zealand. And then in June in France, the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain.

The Glo HD has a 6-inch E Ink screen, with the main selling-point over previous models being the 300 ppi display, which is the highest available. The device also has a frontlight, an infrared touchscreen, 4GB of storage space, but there’s no microSD card slot like the previous Kobo Glo.

Kobo’s ereaders are all basically the exact same from a software standpoint, so you can always refer to my Kobo Aura H2O review from 6 months ago to see exactly how Kobo’s ereaders operate. The software is 99% the same as the Glo HD. And they use the same exact processor so overall performance is the same.

Here’s the link to the written review for more details: Kobo Glo HD Review. It shows the internals of the Glo HD and you can see it uses an internal microSD card, so a larger one could probably be installed to get more storage space, like with the previous Glo.
