After selling a gazillion or so iDevices, Apple has suddenly decided that it doesn’t like the fact that people are buying ebooks from Amazon, B&N, Kobo and other competitors from within apps without giving them a 30% cut of the purchase.
So now all the ereading apps in the Apple iTunes store are getting updated to remove links and options for purchasing and browsing for ebooks from within the apps; user now have to use the Safari web browser to go to the ebookstore to make purchases from there.

If you’ve been paying attention the past couple of weeks, you will have noticed my reviews for the ZAGGsparq 2.0 portable battery and USB charger and the ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for the Motorola XOOM.
I have one more ZAGG product, this one to giveaway. It is the full body maximum coverage ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for the original Apple iPad, which sells for $39.99 from ZAGG. It doesn’t specify if it is for the WiFi-only version or the 3G version, but I think both are the same anyway since there is no SIM card slot, so I don’t see what the difference is.

This week there are dozens of TextVook’s available for free in the Kindle store, Nook store, and in iBooks. Most are regular TextVooks, but there are also a handful of animated TextVooks. These usually cost $1.99 each for the regular, and $6.99 for the animated versions. They have been free all week and could expire at anytime so hurry up and get them while they are still free.
These links below direct to the Kindle Store; to find them in iBooks you need to run a search for TextVook. Here’s the link for the list of TextVooks at Barnes and Noble. The regular TextVooks from Amazon will work with any Kindle and Kindle software, but the animated ones require the Kindle apps for iPad/iPhone for the additional audio/video content. Over at B&N they only list the Nook Color as supporting the animated versions, none of the apps.
