Kobo has taken a page from Amazon by jumping on the ad-supported ereader bandwagon. That’s right. Kobo just quietly introduced the Kobo Touch with Offers
for $99. That’s $30 off the regular price.
Like the Kindle with Special Offers, the Kobo Touch with Offers features advertisements on the screensavers when the device is turned off or in sleep mode. It also has an ad the bottom of the device’s homescreen. There aren’t any ads in ebooks.

Bookeen launched a new ereader this week called the Cybook Odyssey. It is the first ebook reader to use Bookeen’s new exclusive High Speed Ink System technology.
Bookeen is a France-based ebook reader company so naturally the Cybook Odyssey is available in Europe. It’s unclear if it will be heading west to North America anytime soon. The other Cybook ereaders sell in the US so it will probably make its way here eventually.

I came across this new ereader today, the Ematic eGlide Reader Pro. It’s listed on various retail websites. Walmart has it for the cheapest at $109.
As you can see from the picture, the Ematic eGlide Reader Pro is one strange-looking device. I’ve never seen an ereader with a keyboard below the screen on its side like that. It’s also got a little kickstand on the back to prop it up. Ematic is always good for a laugh. Remember the Ematic Twig?

Today Barnes and Noble pulled the veil off their latest gadget, the Nook Tablet, what is essentially an updated version of the Nook Color.
The Nook Tablet is up for pre-order
right now from B&N.com for $249. It releases on November 18th.

That grainy black and white picture to the left is the first glimpse at the new Nook Tablet that Barnes and Noble is going to unveil on November 7th. It looks just like the Nook Color, but it comes with substantial upgrades.
Some of the shiny new features include a dual-core processor, 16GB of onboard storage (that’s twice as much as the Nook Color), 1GB of RAM, a 1.7 ounce lighter build, and if you take a closer look at the picture you’ll see apps for NetFlix and Hulu Plus.

Remember the JetBook Color? I first posted about it back in early September.
It is a 9.7″ ereader and is the first to come with a color E Ink screen. It is currently available in Russia and Ukraine as part of a government subsidized project and is expected to come to the US and Europe in a “few months”, according to Jerry Cimadomo in the second video below.

Kobo just announced the Kobo Vox
, an Android tablet/ereader hybrid very similar to the Nook Color and Kindle Fire. Given the specs and features, it looks like Kobo’s new toy will provide stiff competition against both of those, in fact.
The Kobo Vox has a 7″ color screen that Kobo boasts as being optimized for reading outdoors with an anti-glare screen and wide viewing angles. It is a AFFS+ multi-touch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

Bookeen, a well-established European ereader company based in France, announced a new ebook reader this week, the Cybook Odyssey.
What makes the Cybook Odyssey unique is the fact that it is the first ereader equipped with Bookeen’s new High Speed Ink System technology, HSIS for short.

E Fun, makers of the Nextbook line of ereader-based tablets, announced the Nextbook Premium 8 yesterday, an 8-inch Android 2.3 tablet that ties in with the Kobo eBookstore.
The Nextbook Premium 8 has an 8″ capacitive touchscreen and is powered by a Rockchip RK2918 processor, which I believe is a single core processor that runs at 1.2GHz. Other features include Wi-Fi, a 2.0MP front facing camera, 4GB storage, microSD card slot, Flash support, 4-way g-sensor, and support for 1080p video.
