Velocity Micro just announced 3 new Android tablets with 7″, 8″, and 10″ screens. They are expected to be released in late Q1, so probably around April – June if history is any indication.
All have fairly impressive specs and come pre-installed with the Kindle Android app like the new Cruz Reader T301 that showed up on Amazon about a month ago.

That’s right. The 9″ Pandigital Novel that I just reviewed last week isn’t the only 9″ model. Pandigital just announced a new version of the same ereader that comes with mobile wireless from AT&T.
The model number is R90A200 and the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $279.99, $80 more than the WiFi-only model. It will sell from several national retailers beginning this month, probably QVC to start since that’s one of the few places that sells the other 9″ Pandigital Novel.

This is a quick note to mention that I posted the review for the 9″ Pandigital Novel today. It can be found on the Pandigital Novel Review page, along with a video walkthrough.
It’s a lot like the 7″ Pandigital Novel (white) from a software standpoint. The added hardware buttons and stylus are nice and so is the larger screen, but it does have its drawbacks.
Please feel free to post questions and comments below about the 9″ Pandigital Novel, or if you need some help with anything. Make sure to check the review for details about how to install apps.

While doing some research for the 9″ Pandigital Novel review I’m working on, I came across a new version of the 7″ Pandigital Novel that’s available exclusively from QVC until the end of January.
Until now, Pandigital has had two different 7-inch ereaders on the market, each with subtle differences. It looks like this new one is an updated version of the “black” Pandigital Novel.

Velocity Micro has quietly introduced a new 7″ Cruz Reader Tablet. And get this: unlike the previous Cruz Reader that connects with the Borders ebook store, this new one ships with the Kindle app as the main ebook provider of choice.
While you can get the Kindle for Android app on virtually any app-friendly Android device running 1.6 or higher, it only comes pre-installed on a few smartphones and laptops. Velocity Micro might be making a big move by getting the Amazon Kindle name on their device, but it needs to perform well in order to be of any success.

A new Android-powered ereader/tablet combination was released today called the Next3, a WiFi-equipped touchscreen-enabled device that ties in with the Borders ebook store.
Update: Check my hands-on Next3 review for more details on the Nextbook 8.4″ ereader. There’s a video review and instructions for installing apps as well.
The Next3 is selling from HSN for an introductory price of $199 and is expected to hit retail stores (presumably Borders) soon.

Pandigital has quietly released a new Pandigital Novel color multimedia ereader. This one has a larger 9-inch screen, whereas the other two color models have 7-inch screens.
The Pandigital Novel 9″ ereader has a lot of the same features and functions and the 7″ models, like the white model I reviewed earlier this year, just with a larger display and some added hardware buttons.

Here’s a look at a 7″ color ereader from SVP that I happened to find listed on Amazon.com, buried deep down, hard to find.
Like many other 7″ LCD ereaders, the SVP EB701 is a multipurpose device that can play videos, music, and display photos. For ebooks it supports Adobe DRM (EPUB and PDF) as well as DRM-free TXT, HTML, DOC, WORD, PDF, FB2, PDB, and EPUB formats.

Here’s an interesting device I stumbled upon at Walmart.com while checking out the new listing for the Kobo WiFi, the Ematic EB101B 7″ eBook Reader.
This device looks like it has the same exact hardware as a variety of other devices going by different names. These companies buy them in bulk from China, slap their logo on them, and then the products end up at places like Walmart for nice and cheap.

Fujitsu was the first company to build and sell an ereader with a color epaper display, called with the FLEPia. It was introduced back in 2007 and started selling in Japan in 2009.
Now Fujitsu has a new updated prototype of the FLEPia called the FLEPia Lite, which uses a cholesteric LCD display that Fujitsu Laboratories have been working on for the past ten years.
