Lately Amazon has been trying some different promotions to get people to sign up for Kindle Unlimited, their ebook subscription service that grants access to a library of over 1 million titles for a monthly fee.
Now Amazon has added the option to add a 3-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited for $1.99 with any new Kindle purchase.
First it was only available with the refurbished Kindle Oasis, but now all new Kindles have the option as well.
Kindle Unlimited normally costs $9.99 per month so the deal is a savings of $27.98 off the regular price.
But that’s not the only current offer.
Amazon has also brought back the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Unlimited bundle deal (advertised below the main picture).
It adds a 6-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited for $30. Overall it’s about the same amount off as the 3-month deal ($29.94 total savings).
I wonder why Amazon doesn’t just offer 3-months of Kindle Unlimited for free with all new Kindle purchases.
Most people probably don’t even notice the add-on option anyway but if Kindle Unlimited were free for 3-months everyone would get to try it, even those that maybe would’ve assumed it wasn’t something they’d be interested in until using it.
