It looks like Amazon is trying to clear out their remaining stock of the previous gen Kindle Scribe now that they’ve started selling the new Scribe models.
All three storage capacities of the Kindle Scribe 2 are deeply discounted at Amazon, and Kindle Scribe covers and accessories are still on sale as well from the last sale.
The 16GB Kindle Scribe can be had for $279. The 32GB version is only $10 more at $289, and the most popular version, the 64GB model, is only $309. Even the metallic jade color is $309. That’s considerably cheaper than the equivalent new Kindle Scribe that starts at $499 for the 32GB version.
The new models do have a larger screen and some new software features, and they now support Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, but Amazon is expected to bring most of the new software features to the older models via a software update soon.
You can also get an extra 20% off of the sale prices if you have an older Kindle to trade-in. But if you want to be able to remove the DRM from your Kindle ebooks you might want to keep your older Kindle around since Amazon has switched to using hardened DRM on newer Kindles.
