This is actually a comment about the latest Kindle software upgrade. After my 6″ Fire was upgraded, suddenly Bluefire stopped working and it didn’t even let me delete and redownload it again. I use Bluefire to read Openlibrary books (epub). In addition, the “Documents” library isn’t on the top band across the device, but is hidden in the library of Apps, while Books remain along the top of the screen. I speculate that Amazon doesn’t want users to read anything but Amazon(tm) books, not free Gutenberg books, which are “Documents” nor free epub library books. Are your devices doing this? comment?

It’s nothing new. Amazon has been pushing away other ebook apps since they first released Fire tablets. You can still get Overdrive from the appstore on Fire tablets for ePubs. Mostly I just use the Google Play store to avoid Amazon’s imposed limitations (Bluefire installs and works fine from there). You can move the Docs app to the top of the homescreen for easier access, and then recent documents appear on the recent tab section of the homescreen, kind of like the old carousel.
