If you like Kobo ereaders and Kobo’s platform for ebooks, you might to be interested in taking a survey to help influence future decisions at Kobo.
There’s a post over on reddit from the Kobo Research Team asking the Kobo community to take an anonymous survey regarding Kobo’s services and products.
Here’s a quote from the post: “We invite you to spend 10-15 minutes on our survey and would be delighted if you could help us better understand your needs and preferences. Our goal with the insights from this survey is to enhance your experience, particularly with content management and interaction on our platforms.”
The questions cover topics like adding sideloaded content, notetaking, syncing, among other things, and they ask for your opinion on how they could make things better.
This is one of the questions that stood out: “If you had a magic wand and could do anything to your Kobo device owning experience to make it better for you – What would you do and why?”
Another one of the questions asks about backing up and syncing sideloaded content, and how important you consider that feature. Hopefully if enough people find that valuable they’re finally roll out a way to sync and archive sideloaded content like Amazon does with Kindles using Send to Kindle.
They even ask about using Calibre on the survey to manage sideloaded books so that tells you the people that put the survey together at least know what they’re doing.
I think a lot of the questions asked depend on how you answer certain questions. If you say you use notetaking features they’ll ask you questions related to that.
Here’s the link to the Kobo Survey for those that want to participate. As noted above, it’s an anonymous survey so you don’t have to provide any personal information, but you can give an email address at the end if you want to.

In my opinion this survey was a waste.

Totally disagree. No other e reader company takes in so much user feedback. Not even close. People are still griping, for years, about formatting on Kindle..font size, margin size etc. Barnes and Noble…Pocketbook…Onyx(I admit they provide a lot of options, but customer feedback?)
I gladly participated in this survey.

But it was geared more for people who side load, who read non-fiction books and who take notes – not really anything about page turn buttons or real device feedback and desires. It should have said upfront before you started taking the survey who they were targeting and after taking the survey I felt it was wasted time for someone who just reads.

I took the time to write those things in where they asked about a perfect device

Big part of the survey was about clouds and syncing of sideloaded content. Fingers crossed they’ll finaly bring that option. If they ever did, I would hardly ever use any other brand again. I really love Kobo ereaders, but hate the lack of sideload syncing. It’s my number one thing ereader must have.

It seemed important enough to put it in the survey in detail. Pushed for it also.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’d like that 🙂 Fingers cross they’ll bring this soon 🙂

Got a pop-up asking if I’d like to take the survey when I was on the website today. I filled it out. Kobo does seem to listen to feedback more than other ereader/ebook sellers.
