Amazon is currently offering 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for $0.99 again like they did a few weeks ago for Black Friday. They’re advertising the deal on their homepage so I took a screenshot to prove the deal is real.
However, these types of offers are notorious for only being available under certain circumstances. First off, it’s only for US accounts, and it’s not going to be available if you already have an active Kindle Unlimited subscription.
To see if your account qualifies for the deal, head over to the main Kindle Unlimited page at Amazon and it will show if the 3 months for $0.99 offer is redeemable or not.
Sometimes you can get these deals right after your Kindle Unlimited membership has ended, and sometimes not. They say the deal is for new customers, but they usually work for returning subscribers as well, but it might depend on how long your account has been without a KU membership.
I already have a Kindle Unlimited subscription with 3 months free from buying the new 2024 Kindle so I can’t view this current offer to see the terms or the expiration date, so I don’t know how long it’s valid for, but I would guess it’ll be active for the rest of the month.
Unfortunately it’s not possible to gift these type of deals. Amazon does sell Kindle Unlimited Gift subscriptions but the prices are higher than they were in previous years where you used to be able to get 40% off. Now Amazon only takes $1 off per month when paying in advance, but maybe they’ll lower the prices next week for Christmas.
You can also get 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free when buying a new Kindle, and the 16GB Kindle Paperwhite is still on sale. That offer works with existing memberships, unlike the 3 months for $0.99 offer, but you can take advantage of both if you claim the 3 months for $0.99 deal first.
Like usual with these Kindle Unlimited deals, Amazon will automatically start charging your account the regular price of $11.99 per month after the 3 months ends, but you can cancel at anytime before then to avoid the charge. Even if you cancel early you still get access to Kindle Unlimited for the full 3 months.

Still no joy for me. Maybe next year some time.

I’m in the same boat as Laura. Bummer.
