New Kindle Scribes Now Available in UK and Germany

April 8, 2026 by Nathan Groezinger Leave a Comment

Kindle Scribe Colorsoft

Amazon has finally started rolling out the new Kindle Scribes internationally. It’s been almost four months since they started selling them in the US, and it’s been over six months since they were announced.

The new Kindle Scribe with a frontlight and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft are now available to order from Amazon UK and Amazon DE.

The black and white frontlit Kindle Scribe is selling for £449.99 in the UK and €519.99 in Germany. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is selling for £569.99 in the UK and €649.99 in Germany. Both are eligible for trade-in discounts so you can get an extra 20% off if you have an old Kindle to trade in.

The Kindle Scribe without a frontlight isn’t available yet on either website. Amazon still hasn’t started selling it in the US yet, and they still don’t show a release date so who knows when it will get released. How hard is it to make a Kindle Scribe without a light layer? They must’ve encountered some production problems for it to be taking this long, and I think it’s going to be the least popular Kindle model across the board anyway, so I don’t know why they’d even bother.

In the US, the new Kindle Scribes are not selling very well, and the high prices certainly aren’t helping matters any. Most versions show that they’ve only sold 500+ units each during the past month. The 64GB Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is the most popular model, and it has sold 1k+ units during the past month. Most Kindles are sitting at 10k+ units sold during the past month so there’s big dropoff when it comes to the Scribes.

Amazon just released a new software update for Kindles, including the Kindle Scribes, with some enhancements for PDFs. USB sideloaded PDFs now support writing with the stylus, and they show up in color now too on the Colorsoft.
