Amazon has put the 11″ Kindle Scribe with a frontlight on sale, but it’s kind of an odd sale because it’s the only Kindle being discounted right now, aside from a couple of refurbished models that I posted about earlier in the week.
This is only the second time the 2025 Kindle Scribe has been on sale since it was released last December. The 32GB version is on sale for $399, which is $100 off, and the 64GB version is selling for $439, which is $110 off. You can also stack a trade-in discount to get an additional 20% off the sale prices.
Again, it’s a weird sale. The other “new” Kindle Scribes aren’t being discounted at all, and don’t bother with the bundle packages because they aren’t on sale either. You’d think Amazon would put the non-frontlit Scribe on sale since it isn’t selling well at all, and it’s never been on sale yet, but it’s still inexplicably at full price.
Nonetheless, if this is the model you want now is a good time to get it at a lower price than usual. At $399, it’s the same price as the 16GB previous gen Kindle Scribe that Amazon is still selling at full retail for reasons that make no sense whatsoever. You’d have to be nuts to buy it over this newer version.
However, Amazon still has previous gen like-new Kindle Scribes on sale for as low as $284.99. Those are a good deal if you just want a larger Kindle and don’t care about the upgrades on the newer version. It’s crazy how it’s only $35 more than the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition now after the recent price hike, especially when the screen is nearly twice the size and it comes with a stylus.
If you’re wondering if you should hold out for Amazon’s big October sales event in case the price goes even lower, it probably isn’t worth waiting for. This same Kindle Scribe was $120 off during Prime Day back in June so there is a chance the price could go lower, but last year Amazon’s October sales on Kindle Scribes weren’t as low as their Prime Day sales so I wouldn’t expect this year to be any different, especially after the recent price increase.
