Last week Onyx announced the release of a new color ereader called the Boox Go Color 7, and now it’s available to order from Amazon for $249 with free shipping.
Actually they had it listed on Amazon soon after it was announced, but the shipping date was listed at 1-2 months away. Now the estimated delivery date is June 24th so that’s about a week and a half away.
At present, they only have the black version available. They’re going to sell a white version as well at some point, but Onyx doesn’t seem to know when, and it’s not available directly from their website yet either.
Apparently the white model is going to have an indented screen, whereas the black version has a flush screen. Otherwise they’re the same.
The Boox Go Color has the same 7″ E Ink Kaleido 3 screen as similar models like the Kobo Libra Colour, and it has a resolution of 300 ppi for black and white and 150 ppi for color.
The Boox Go Color runs Android 12 and comes with Google Play to install apps, and it has some pretty impressive specs for an ereader, with a 2.4Ghz octa-core CPU, 64GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM.
It also has a frontlight with adjustable color temperature, along with a rotation sensor to switch the screen orientation automatically, and there’s even a microSD card slot. It has a built-in speaker and a microphone as well, and it supports dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0.
Being a Kindle Oasis clone, the Boox Go Color has page buttons on one side of the screen, and it’s the only Boox model left with page buttons, along with the Page, which is basically the black and white version of it.
It’s good to see Onyx finally selling their smaller models on Amazon now. They used only sell them from other retailers or directly from their website. In fact, their other small models like the Poke and the Page still aren’t available through their Amazon store, but hopefully this is a sign of a change moving forward.

B&H photo video sells the Page and Poke models. Good alternative store.
