10.6″ Viwoods AiPaper Has Carta 1300 Mobius Screen and Runs Android

November 20, 2024 by Nathan Leave a Comment

Viwoods AiPaper

Another new Android-powered eNote recently hit the market. It’s called the Viwoods AiPaper and it’s now available to purchase on Amazon. It isn’t cheap, but there’s currently a Black Friday coupon to get $90 off.

The Viwoods AiPaper is a lot like other recent Android eNotes, but there’s one key difference. It has a 10.65″ E Ink Carta screen, but it’s a flexible Mobius-based display, so in theory it should be more durable than standard glass-backed E Ink screens.

The screen has a resolution of 2560 x 1920, which equates to 300 ppi. Apparently the screen is optimized for clarity and contrast, with a paper-like feel for writing, and there is no frontlight.

They’re heavily advertising integrated AI features, and it has an EMR touchscreen with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, low latency, and tilt support.

Other specs include 4GB of RAM, with 128GB of internal storage, it has a 2.0GHz octa-core CPU, and it supports dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. It weighs 370 grams and the measurements are 247 x 178 x 4.5mm.

The Viwoods AiPaper runs Android 13, but it’s mostly being marketed as a notetaking device, more of a Remarkable alternative than an ereader or an all-purpose device like Onyx’s Android eNotes.

The price is where things get a little questionable. The list price is $589.99 at Amazon. There’s currently a coupon to take $90 off, but even still it’s at the high end for 10″ eNotes, especially considering it lacks both a frontlight and color.

Onyx sells a similar eNote, the Boox Go 10, with a 300 ppi black and white E Ink screen without a frontlight for $379. It doesn’t have a Mobius screen, but it has more going for it in other areas. There’s also the new Note Air 4C with a 10″ color E Ink screen for $499, so the Viwoods AiPaper has some pretty stiff competition.

It’s good to see Mobius screens making a comeback, though. Hopefully the prices will start going down at some point.
