Amazon has put both versions of the Kindle Colorsoft of sale, the original Signature Edition model that was released in 2024 and the 16GB version that they released over the summer.
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is selling for $249.99 and the 16GB Kindle Colorsoft is selling for $219.99. Both are $30 off. The Kindle Colorsoft Kids bundle is still on sale from last week too at $224.99, which is $45 off, but that deals requires a Prime membership to get the sale price.
It’s always good to see Kindles going on sale, but this particular sale is pretty disappointing, and it’s an early indication that Amazon’s Black Friday sales aren’t going to be very good this year when it comes to Kindles.
$30 off is a weak sale by Amazon’s standards. Last month for Prime Big Deal Days the 16GB Colorsoft was $50 off and the Signature Edition was $70 off. The kids bundle was $60 off. During Prime Day back in July, the SE Colorsoft was $100 off.
This has become the trend the past few years. The best time of year to buy Kindles at the lowest prices is in July during Prime Day and October during Prime Day part 2. Amazon’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals just aren’t what they used to be. $30 off is as good as it’s going to get on the Colorsoft this year.
Amazon isn’t going to lower the price further in 2 weeks when they start their Black Friday sales. That’s not how Amazon does things because then everyone would return the Colorsofts they purchased now and return them in 2 weeks to get the lower price. Amazon knows people are conditioned to buy stuff this time of year so they don’t have to do deep sales like other times of year.
It’s still nice to be able to get a discount on Kindles, and the price is even lower if you have an older Kindle to trade-in to get an extra 20% off, but people need to stop expecting to get great deals on Kindles this time of year.
