Amazon has started selling a new accessory for Kindles in the form of a leather sling bag. It’s not a purse. It’s not a fanny pack. It’s the more universally accepted “sling bag”.
The Sling Bag for Kindles comes in two colors, Cinder (black) and Dune (white). The list price is $79.99, but they’re both currently selling for $69.99.
Amazon is also selling a number of Kindle bundles with sling bags now, but only for the Kindle Paperwhite, it seems. The price works out a bit cheaper when buying a sling bag as part of a bundle, more like $65 compared to the same bundles without the sling bag.
I’ve never been in the market for a sling bag before so I don’t that’s a good price or not, and now that Amazon has started selling Kindle Scribe cases for $139.99 I don’t know what to think anymore.
One interesting characteristic about the bag is there’s a notched strap that can seemingly be used as a makeshift stand to prop up your Kindle. There’s no mention of it in the description, but there is this picture…
The description says the bag is made from “premium GRS-certified recycled leather with 59% recycled content”. They say it has compartments to hold your Kindle device, with enough room for glasses, a phone, and few other things. They don’t say how big it is, but there are some pictures to help get an idea, although there aren’t any showing the inside.
Amazon has sold a number of quirky accessories for Kindles over the years, and most never really seem to catch on. Like the Kindle umbrella (I can’t believe they’re still selling it), and the Kindle coffee mug. Can the Kindle sling bag turn things around?

My wife just uses her purse to carry her Kindle Oasis.
