I’ve been waiting for the new Boox Go 6 Gen II to show up from retailers in the US ever since Onyx released it earlier this month, but options are limited.
It’s still not available from Onyx’s official Amazon store, despite the fact they’ve been accepting orders for Go 6 Gen II Magnetic Cases for the past couple of weeks (but they aren’t shipping yet; they are listed as “temporarily out of stock”).
Right now the best place to order the Boox Go 6 Gen II from is B&H. Three of the four color choices are in stock now with free 2-day shipping. The Custard color is listed as a pre-order, but it’s not currently available from Onyx’s website either.
The Gen II Go 6 is also listed on Best Buy’s website, but it’s being sold by a 3rd-party seller and it isn’t shipping until July 9th.
Of course you can order the new Go 6 directly from Onyx’s website too, but just about anyone that’s had to deal with Onyx’s return policy would recommend against that because of all the flaming hoops they make you jump through and the extra fees they charge, and since E Ink’s quality control isn’t great that’s always going to be a gamble.
Onyx has always been a bit weird about selling their smaller models on Amazon. They sell the Palma from their Amazon store, but they never did sell the previous Go 6 on Amazon or the earlier Poke models. They had some other reseller selling them for a while, Kantan Technology, but they currently have zero products listed.
I was wondering if Onyx would finally start selling their 6″ ereaders on Amazon now with the Go 6 Gen II getting released, but it’s not looking likely at this point. Some of the things Onyx does just doesn’t make sense sometimes. They’re going to sell the cover on the Amazon, but not the actual device? Maybe it’ll show up in a couple of weeks, but if B&H has them in stock and Onyx’s US warehouse has them in stock, their official Amazon store should have them too if they were planning on selling them from there.
