Amazon is now selling limited-edition Harry Potter cases for the 12th generation Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft.
The Harry Potter covers are available in four different designs and colors, one for each of the four Hogwarts houses—Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw (I forgot the Hufflepuff mascot was a badger—it’s the meanest looking one of the bunch).
The list price for each case is $49.99, but they’ll likely have some used ones available for much cheaper after they’ve been around for a while (like right now you can get a premium leather Kindle cover for $25.96 in like new condition, and they normally sell for $64.99 new).
Amazon is also selling a new Kindle Colorsoft bundle that comes with your choice of a Harry Potter case. The price of the bundle is $299.98. The price is exactly the same as buying both items individually so there’s no bundle discount like usual. I couldn’t find a Paperwhite bundle with the Harry Potter cases.
One thing about these new cases is Amazon does not specify what type of material they are made out of anywhere on the product page. They usually say what Kindle covers are made from, but this time it’s a mystery. That probably means they’re not made from leather because they would’ve made sure to mention that.
Other than the designs, they look like standard Kindle covers with a microfiber lining and magnetic front flap. Amazon’s official Kindle covers are pricey but they usually hold up pretty well. I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to come up with Harry Potter bundles for Kindles. You’d think they could at least include the ebooks with the bundle, but all seven books are available through Kindle Unlimited so at least you can access them that way.
