New SpiderCat Kindle Jailbreak is the Easiest Method Yet

September 1, 2026 by Nathan Groezinger Leave a Comment

Kindle SpiderCat Jailbreak

A couple weeks ago a new jailbreaking method was released for Kindles called Vera, and now there’s another new jailbreak called SpiderCat that’s even easier to use and it supports a wider range of Kindles, going all the way back to the Kindle Oasis 3 from 2019.

The SpiderCat jailbreak is so simple anyone can use it. All you have to do is download a book using your Kindle’s web browser (or you can sideload the file over USB if you prefer) and then open it. That’s it. Jailbreaking will commence automatically.

Unlike the Vera jailbreak, SpiderCat does not support the latest Kindle software update (5.19.6), but it does work up to 5.19.5 and it goes all the way back to 5.16.3.

Here’s the list of Kindles that SpiderCat supports with firmware version 5.16.3 – 5.19.5:

  • KOA3 (Kindle Oasis 3 2019 10th Gen)
  • KT4 (Kindle Basic 10th Generation)
  • PW4 (Paperwhite 10th Generation)
  • KT5 (Kindle Basic 11th Generation 2022 Release)
  • PW5 (Paperwhite 11th Generation)
  • KT6 (Kindle Basic 11th Generation 2024 Release)
  • PW6 (Paperwhite 12th Generation)
  • CS (Colorsoft)
  • KS (Scribe 2022 Release)
  • KS2 (Scribe 2024 Release)

If you’re unsure which Kindle model you have you can look it up on the Your Devices page at Amazon if the Kindle is registered to your account. The generation is shown in parentheses.

You can check the software version on your Kindle by going to Settings > Device options > Device info > Firmware version.

Make sure to follow the directions on the Kindle Modding website closely before you begin. If your Kindle is running older software you’ll need to fill up the storage space before jailbreaking so it can’t download an update before the jailbreak is complete. The jailbreak will automatically block updates so you can free up that space again after jailbreaking. If your Kindle is already on the latest software available for it, you don’t have to worry about any of that.
