The new Xteink X4 Pro has turned up on Xteink’s Amazon store in both Space Black and Mist Gray. Neither are available purchase as of this writing, but it’s good to see they’re getting ready to start selling them on Amazon soon.
The X4 Pro was released in late July, but the first wave of orders sold out quickly, and then a couple weeks later they got more in stock and since then it’s only been available to purchase from Xteink’s website and some other vendors in China selling locked versions.
There have been a bunch of reports of people having trouble when ordering from Xteink directly. Some orders take several weeks to arrive, some don’t arrive at all and get stuck in the shipping pipeline, some arrive with a broken screen, and Xteink makes it difficult to do returns.
Xteink is a small company and they don’t seem to be equipped to handle the popularity of their devices, and being located in China they can skirt the law with no consequences. They even admitted that their customer service hasn’t been very good so I would avoid ordering from them, at least until they get things straightened out.
I’ve never been a fan of ordering stuff from China and having no idea if/when the package is going to arrive so none of this is a surprise to me. That’s why I’ve been patiently waiting for the X4 Pro to show up on Amazon before ordering one. It looks like that’s going to happen soon.
Also, if you want an original X4 with a USB-C port, keep an eye on Xteink’s Amazon store. They’ve been having them in stock off and on for the past couple of weeks. Sometimes they are listed on the X3 page and sometimes they have their own page, but they always sell out quickly now that it’s been discontinued in favor of the new X4 Classic.
