Onyx Boox eReaders and eNotes Sale

March 23, 2023 by Nathan 3 Comments

Onyx Boox Nova Air 2 Sale

I was just thinking about putting together a post questioning why Onyx never puts their devices on sale anymore, especially since they’re the most expensive brand on the market, but now, out of nowhere, Onyx has a couple of deals for your consideration.

From March 24th-31st, they’re having a 4th anniversary sale on the Boox website where you can save 7% on orders totaling $500 and above. That’s a good way to get the new 10.3-inch Tab Ultra or a 13.3-inch Tab X at a discount since they never go on sale elsewhere.

If you’re going to buy from Onyx’s website just make sure you understand their return policy first because it’s a lot different than buying from Amazon and most other companies.

Unfortunately Onyx never seems to put any of their devices on sale from their Amazon store, not until they’re replacing them with a newer model, but there is an alternative.

I noticed a couple of Onyx’s devices are on sale at B&H for what seems like the first time ever. The Nova Air 2 is marked down by $20 to $319. That’s not a big sale by any means but it’s the lowest I’ve seen the Nova Air 2 selling for since it was released. It has a 7.8-inch screen and a full slate of features, including a Wacom touchscreen for taking notes.

The Poke 4 Lite is also being discounted at B&H by a whopping $10, taking the price down to $129. The Poke 4 Lite is Onyx’s budget 6-inch model with a 212 ppi screen.

Also, it’s not on sale, but it’s worth mentioning they just started selling the 7-inch Boox Leaf 2 on Best Buy’s website. They have the black version in stock but the white version isn’t available yet. The black version has a flush front screen and the white one has an indented screen so it has slightly better contrast.

What is the 4th anniversary of? I have a Boox device manufactured in 2016, so the company’s been around longer than four years.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess maybe they mean 4 years for the Boox shop website.

I must not have been paying attention a couple of nights ago — when B&H’s $20 mark-down on the Nova Air 2 showed in the basket it was a nice surprise.

That sale was on the other end of the return to B&H of a Leaf 2. It turns out that the Leaf 2 may not be capable of fully installing some Android applications. It would “install” the Washington Post and The Guardian news papers, but I couldn’t log on to either. AP looked a little wonky too. Those apps installed perfectly onto a Note Air 2 Plus.

Two clues: (1) the Leaf 2’s Google Play store is not fully installed and (2) the Nova Air 2 and the Note Air 2 Plus both have Octa-Core CPUs while the Leaf 2 has a Quad-Core CPU.

Amazon and B&H both have better return policies than Boox in terms of the allowable return period, the turn around time for a return approval (and credit/refund), and the cost of the return shipping.
