Amazon Website Apparently Forgot the 11th Gen Kindle Exists

July 27, 2023 by Nathan 1 Comment

Kindle Missing

Maybe you’ve noticed, probably you haven’t, but the 11th generation Kindle that was released last October has mysteriously gone missing from a number of support pages on Amazon’s website, including the Kindle software updates page where you can download the latest updates for each Kindle model, at least that’s how it’s supposed to work.

The 11th gen Kindle no longer appears on the Identify Your Kindle E-Reader page at Amazon either, and it used to be listed there. It’s also missing from the software security notifications page.

Even on the Manage Your Devices page at Amazon, I noticed that all my registered Kindles list what each model is, and all the recent models show the generation as well. This information is listed under the “Type” section when you click on a Kindle to view the Device Summary page. Except the 11th gen Kindle is the only one to have the Type section blank.

The funny thing is if you go to the exact same support pages on the Amazon UK website, the 11th gen Kindle is still listed there like usual.

If you need to download the latest software update for the 11th gen Kindle, you can still do so from the software updates page on Amazon UK where the 11th gen Kindle still exists. The download links are the same on both the US and UK websites so there’s no need to worry about a difference with the UK version.

It’s strange. It’s like the 11th gen Kindle has been written out of existence across several different support pages on Amazon’s website. It must be some kind of bug or website error, and it’s a pretty strange one at that. The weird thing is this isn’t the first time this has happened. I remember the 11th gen Kindle going missing from some of these pages before.

This has happened before when it was first released. The update page did not mention it. But just before the first update for it came it it appeared in the listing. I think Amazon doesn’t have very good web page programmers. For Amazon Mexico, for example, for the basic model you have to scroll for about 5 minutes of blank space before getting to the comparison chart. I’ve also noticed technical mistakes on their web pages. Amazon needs to proofread their web pages before publishing them.
