New Boox Note Air4 C Released, 10″ Color eNote with Android 13

October 23, 2024 by Nathan Leave a Comment

Note Air4 C

Onyx has released a new updated version of one of their most popular models, the Note Air. This new version is the Note Air4 C. It features a 10.3″ Kaleido 3 color E Ink screen (that’s what the “C” stands, but so far there’s no sign of a Note Air4 with a black and white screen—but there is the Boox Go 10.3).

The Note Air4 C comes with a few upgrades over the previous model (the usual minor changes indicative of Onyx’s yearly upgrade cycle), and it’s running a newer version of Android—Android 13. The price remains the same at $499, and it’s available to order now from Onyx’s Amazon Store.

Onyx claims it uses an “improved Kaleido 3 screen”, with a higher refresh rate and a lighter background color. Here’s an interesting note about the screen from the product page for the Note Air 4C on Onyx’s website:

The Kaleido 3 screen is E Ink’s most recent ePaper color screen. It offers a relatively high refresh rate, relaxing hues, and is ready for mass production with consistent quality. And with E Ink ComfortGaze™ on the Kaleido 3, a new front light technology, the Note Air4 C with adjustable front lights can offer a comfortable viewing experience day and night. The new screen and its front light technology may generate a tiny side shadow, which may be eliminated by adjusting the screen brightness and color temperature. If you have any queries about the new E Ink technology, you can contact our customer care at any time.

They also bumped the RAM up to 6GB on the new Note Air4 C from 4GB on the last model, but the internal storage space remains 64GB, and the microSD card slot is still there too. Onyx also claims the CPU is more powerful. There’s a picture on their website that says “50% CPU Performance Improved”, which sounds like total nonsense (Onyx’s over-the-top marketing style is hard to take seriously sometimes).

Most of the other features remain the same as before. It has “BSR” for faster refreshing. It comes with a stylus for notetaking, of course, and it has the usual list of hardware features: Bluetooth, WiFi, a rotation sensor, a fingerprint sensor, a frontlight with temperature control, a USB-C port, dual speakers, a microphone.

Onyx is also rolling out some new software features with their latest V4.0 firmware, which will trickle down to some older models as well, and they’re bringing a new tablet-like UI to the Air line.

If you don’t think the upgrades are worth $50, the Note Air3 C is now available to purchase at a discounted price of $449.
