If you’re looking to score a Kindle at a discount, Amazon has the Kindle Colorsoft and the Kindle Paperwhite on sale right now, and they also have bundle packages on sale for each as well.
This is the first time the Kindle Colorsoft has gone on sale for the masses. It was on sale last month for the first time since it was released, but that was a Prime exclusive sale. A membership isn’t required this time, and the sale price is the same as it was last month at $229, which is $50 off the regular price—not bad. You can also get 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free with the purchase.
Amazon also has the Kindle Colorsoft Essentials Bundle on sale starting at $277.97, which includes a plant-based leather cover and a wireless charging dock, and the Essentials Bundle with the premium leather cover is $299.97. The bundles don’t have the option to add the Kindle Unlimited extended trial, however.
If you don’t want a bundle but still want a wireless charging dock for the Colorsoft, you can get the first gen Kindle wireless charger for half price, as explained in this earlier post.
The Kindle Paperwhite is on sale too, but only the black version of the 16GB model. Unfortunately the jade and pink colors are full price, and so are the Signature Edition models.
The Paperwhite is marked down to $134.99 from $159.99. The Kindle Paperwhite Essentials Bundle with the fabric cover is $171.97, and the Essentials Bundle with the plant-based leather cover is $177.97. Both are $45 off. These bundles include a regular wall charger since the base Paperwhite doesn’t support wireless charging.

Wikipedia says plant-based leather is made from plants and recycled plastic rather then animal hide.
I have a Amazon-branded plant-based leather cover for my 2021 Paperwhite. The feel is nicer, IMO, then third party covers I have used. Physical quality is roughly the same as most third-party covers.
I splurged on a premium leather cover for my Colorsoft. I vastly prefer the touch over my Paperwhite’s cover. I recommend buying some leather conditioner and giving the cover a rub down. It helps minimize scratching and discoloration.
I really wonder if Canada will ever get the Color soft, it’s really weird. We also didn’t get the Jade Paperwhite.
