Onyx started shipping their new Go 7 series devices over a month ago, but the compatible “InkSense” stylus that Onyx sells for them has been in short supply ever since.
In fact, it’s still listed as Sold Out on Onyx’s own website, as it’s been for a while now. But it looks like Amazon is finally getting some in stock. The Boox InkSense Stylus for the Go 7 BW and Go 7 Color Gen II is now available to order for $50.99 with free shipping through Onyx’s Amazon storefront. Shipping is still a couple weeks out, but it was 1-2 months a few days ago so the shipping date keeps moving up.
The main difference with the Gen II Go 7 is Onyx added stylus support to their 7″ ereader line so it’s kind of important to actually be able to buy a stylus to use with them. The Go 7 and Go 7 Color have both been readily available for the past month, but it’s been nearly impossible to get one of Onyx’s styluses for them. The timing of the launch didn’t seem well-planned.
With most of Onyx’s other notetaking models it wouldn’t have been a big deal because there are a wide range of compatible styli available for them since they use Wacom touchscreens. But Onyx switched to a different touchscreen tech for their Go 7 series, so nobody is quite sure what styluses will work with them.
Alternative Styluses for Go 7 Series
If you don’t want to buy Onyx’s official InkSense stylus for the Go 7, there are reports of some other styli working with the Go 7 too, but it’s still unclear how overall performance compares to Onyx’s official pen.
The Go 7 series use USI 2.0 compatible styluses. You can find a number of options listed online. Here are a few that some people on reddit have tried and said work with the Go 7 BW and Go 7 Color Gen II:
