It’s been over two months now since Amazon first announced that they would be releasing three new Kindle Scribes, including the first one with a color E Ink screen, and now we finally have a release date for two of them.
Amazon’s website now says the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and BW Kindle Scribe will be getting released on December 10th, 2025. Neither are available to order just yet, but I’m sure that will change soon.
The Kindle Scribe without a frontlight still does not show a release date, but Amazon said that it wouldn’t be getting released until early next year when they announced it so it looks like it’s still TBD.
Amazon UK still doesn’t show a release date for the new Kindle Scribes, but Amazon said all three models would be available in the UK and Germany early next year so it does indeed look like they’ll arrive in the US first.
The new Kindle Scribes feature a thinner design with smaller bezels and a larger 11″ E Ink screen with texture-molded glass and a revamped frontlight system. They come with a faster processor too.
The Colorsoft model has a Kaleido 3 color E Ink screen similar to the Kindle Colorsoft that was released last year. It’ll be the first color notetaking Kindle.
The new Kindle Scribes come with some software improvements as well (hopefully Amazon will release an update soon to bring the new features to the older models too). There’s a new home screen layout with a Quick Notes section for jotting down ideas without having to open a notebook. They’re adding new color pen types and shading tools, and AI-powered search. Amazon is even adding support for Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, with the ability to share notebooks with OneNote.
It’s nice to finally get a release date for the new Kindle Scribes. Amazon used to always accept pre-orders right away after announcing new Kindles, but they made us wait a couple months this time for some reason.
