This past summer Best Buy started offering a 7-inch Android tablet with Android 4.4 for $49 called the DigiLand DL7, model DL700D. Best Buy currently has it on “clearance” for $47.
It offered decent specs and newer software for the price. A number of people left comments saying it was actually a pretty good budget tablet.
As it turns out, Best Buy has recently started selling a newer version of the DigiLand tablet, the DL701Q, that comes with a number of hardware upgrades. Even better, the price remains $49.
But you can get it for even cheaper than that on Black Friday. Best Buy’s Black Friday preview ad shows the DigiLand DL701Q for $39 and says the price is valid November 27-29, 2014.
It’s pretty surprising the number of hardware upgrades this tablet has received and yet the price remains the same. They doubled the storage space, improved the screen resolution, upgraded the processor to quad-core, and they added Bluetooth, GPS, an FM tuner and a 2.0 MP rear camera.
Like the previous model, it runs Android 4.4 KitKat. Preloaded apps include Google Play, Gmail, Maps, Chrome, Google Music, Google Search and others.
All in all, you could do worse for $49.
There’s also a 10-inch DigiLand tablet with basically the same exact specs for $99. Too bad they didn’t up the screen resolution, though.
Here’s the rundown of the specs:

Whoa – this looks like a fabulous deal if I ever saw one!
If I get the chance, I’ll make sure to pick one up and see how its performance is IRL.

Purchased 2 of these tablets as gifts but figured I’d run some tests on them before hand.
Overall, for 40 bucks, I’m not disappointed and in fact am rather impressed by the overall experience being had for such a cheap price.
The screen itself leaves things to be desired. It isn’t incredibly bright in comparison to my galaxy tab 3, and has a worse resolution, but it is by no means unusable and in fact makes a decent screen when watching YouTube, Netflix and hulu.
Performance is actually better Han oignally expected and actually plays a few of the more popular games without too much lag. I was able to run clash of clans, candy crush saga and fruit ninja satisfactorily.
The touch screen is functional but occasionally requires a bit of extra effort to be accurate. Overall not a bad experience.
Multitasking is a bit tough. The limited ram (compared to other current, more expensive tablets) makes it so you have to b sure to keep up on closing previous apps, but it works surprisingly well when multiple tabs are open in chrome.
Overall I’d give this tablet a solid 6.5 out of 10 if comparing to othergalts as a whole, but a solid 8.5 out of 10 in regards to budget tablets.
Should you buy it? Absolutely. Its an amazing abket to have aeoun the house for quick recipe searches, coffee table magazines replacements, e-reader replacement, or children’s tablet. For 40 bucks, theres no reason not to get it at this price point.

I just got mine in the mail earlier today and plan on returning it tonight.
The internal hardware is pretty great. It had no trouble loading complex websites and it was quite responsive.
A minor annoyance is the placement of the power button. Typing in landscape while holding it, I kept hitting the power button and turning the screen off. Might not be a problem for someone with smaller hands, though. Holding the tablet in portrait mode, the power button is on the bottom and will get hit by anything you rest it on.
The main reason I am returning the tablet is because the screen is unusable in portrait mode. In landscape, I can get by with a gradient of light to dark from bottom to top. But when holding it in portrait mode, it’s painful to look at the screen.
Might be a good tablet for kids that want to play Angry Birds and not Temple Run.

Did anyone actually get the GPS to work?

Received mine as a Christmas gift and I love it. It is full things I may never uses but its great for web browsing, Email and the like. I love the built in radio tuner and GPS. I like the Skype feature and the two cameras. For the price its not a bad Tablet and it may not be as nice as a $300 Tablet its still a will build and thought out design. Very Happy

Trying to get an Android Play game to run. Very graphics intensive combat flight game that keeps dropping out/closing. May need ram upgrade. Suggestions appreciated.

My son has the same issue with a game called minecraft. Funny, gets upset when he gets a good run, but then the app shuts down right in the middle. As you, I feel this issue is ram related and wish it could be upgraded, but doubt it possible. Other issue with this tablet is the Li-poly battery. Slow to charge and loses it fast. Wish it had Li-io instead. Screen rez could be better too.

Truly disappointed. Bought the 10″ with “16GB storage”. Except it is partitioned into two “internal storage”. So, you can only download up to 2GB of apps. The other 12GB or so goes virtually unused. How deceiving!
