A few weeks ago Barnes and Noble pulled Nook tablets from their website and stores once it because known that there was an issue with the included charging adapter.
Now Barnes and Noble has issued a recall notice advising customers to immediately stop using the recalled power adapters and to register online to get a free replacement adapter plus a $5 gift card.
Customers will get a pre-paid shipping label to return the defective adapter to B&N.
Then B&N will send out a new adapter in the mail.
The recall only applies to the new 7-inch Nook tablet, the $49 model, not any of the Samsung-branded Nook tablets.
According to the recall notice, the defective power adapters affect 147,000 units.
That’s a higher number than expected considering that B&N just started selling their new Nook tablet on Black Friday. They stopped selling it less than 2 months later. It’s surprising they sold that many in such a short amount of time, unless they’re counting unsold units as well.
