Get up to $70 off Kindle Paperwhite with Trade-in Bonus

February 4, 2018 by Nathan

Kindle Paperwhite Trade

In addition to the Kindle sales that Amazon is currently running for Valentine’s Day, they’ve also brought back the $50 trade-in bonus toward the purchase of a new Kindle Paperwhite.

The way the Kindle Trade-in deal works is you trade-in an old Kindle, either working or broken, then Amazon will apply a $50 discount to the Kindle Paperwhite at checkout, plus you get the value of the trade-in as well.

The offer cannot be applied to other sales like the one that is currently running, and it’s applicable to the Wi-Fi model with Special Offers only, although you can unsubscribe from the ads at anytime by paying an extra $20.

According to the terms and conditions, the trade-in deal runs through February 14th and the Kindle Paperwhite has to be purchased by May 30th.

If you don’t want the Kindle Paperwhite, you can get a $20 credit to use toward the purchase of any of the other current Kindles instead, including the new Oasis.

Like the last time Amazon did this promo, I still don’t see where they get the $70 off number (last time it was $75). The terms clearly state you can use the trade-in credit towards the purchase, and there’s no mention of a $20 limit. Some Kindles pay a lot more than $20; even the 1st and 2nd gen Paperwhites are valued at $35 in working condition so wouldn’t that be $85 off?

Either way the fine print says the price of the Wi-Fi Kindle Paperwhite will automatically be reduced to $69 during checkout with the bonus credit. See the terms and conditions for more info:

I’m a little confused. The final price for the Kindle Paperwhite would be $49 correct?

    $119 – $50 – $20(Trade-in Kindle 7th)?

Right, it’s $69 at checkout before applying the trade-in credit.

What would be the final price for the paperwhite if trading in a 4th gen?

It depends on the value listed at Amazon and whether it’s working or not or if the screen is cracked.

Has to be purchased by May 30th? Im thinking a new Paperwhite version will be introduced around that time. Didnt the PW3 release in May 2015?

hmmm… I’m wondering if I should wait until right before May 30th to purchase my Kindle Paperwhite. I’m guessing if they do release a new model it will be after the deal ends.
