Have you been to the Manage Your Contents and Devices page at Amazon recently?
I don’t use it very often myself but I visited the Digital Content page yesterday to search for a specific Kindle ebook and it definitely has a different look than the last time I was there.
Now everything is broken down into different sections on the main landing page so you can quickly access different types of content—like newspapers, magazines, audiobooks, documents and user guides—from their own individual lists.
There’s also a section that shows your Kindle collections so you can easily manage your titles from there.
Why don’t they have something setup like that on the homescreen for Kindle ereaders? It would make it easier to find different types of content, instead of manually having to filter and sort everything from the library.
Functionally I don’t think much has changed; they just broke down the main list into pre-sorted sections, but it does make it a bit easer to find stuff, and you can also switch to different lists from a drop down menu like before.
One thing that drives me crazy about the Manage Your Content page at Amazon is there’s no way to delete old newspaper and magazine subscriptions, and that’s still the case. I don’t know why they can’t offer the option to permanently delete them like they do with ebooks. What’s the point of having a subscription for a newspaper that was cancelled ten years ago?

They certainly *can* offer the option, they haven’t because that’s not the way the company is run. To understand Amazon there is one thing to remember, they are a 100% data driven company. Obsessive would not be an exaggeration. Nothing happens if it can’t be measured and the only measure that matters is earnings. If you show up at a meeting to present the work your team has spent time on without the data to show earnings increased more than the cost of the effort, you will be vilified. This is not part of the corporate culture, it is *the* culture.
It’s not that customers are discounted, it’s just that customer satisfaction is only measured in terms of earnings. They won’t anger all their customers but they will anger some intentionally if the data says it pays.
I know more than a few people who have left Amazon because of this. I know a few for whom the money makes it worth it. I no no one who is happy about it.

Totally agree, the old magazine subscriptions that I can’t delete drives me insane. It’s the main reason I changed to Kobo!

Well, this still looks absolutely dated. I love how modern and clean Pocketbook online library looks. Kindle should really work on this.

I just checked and my Manage Your Content And Devices screen still looks the same as it has the last year so I guess they roll out the updates gradually. But it is a good idea as it will make it much easier to find specific items.

I’m on that page a lot because I borrow ebooks from the library. I can delete then from my device, but that doesn’t delete them from my content I have to go in and delete them there. Ironically, Kindle Unlimited books disappear from my content automatically.
