Time for Another Round of Kindle Deals at Woot

May 20, 2022 by Nathan 3 Comments

Woot Kindle Deals

If you’re looking to score a Kindle ereader or Fire tablet for cheap, Woot is hosting another sale on Amazon devices, and they also have some covers for the earlier Kindle Paperwhites.

Like most Woot deals, these Kindles are listed as refurbished, but most people report them being in like new condition when they receive them. They come with a 90-day Woot warranty, not a 1-year Amazon warranty.

The deal is supposed to last through May 25th but Woot usually sells out of these deals earlier than the end date. Shipping is free for Amazon Prime members. Otherwise it’s $6.

The cheapest Kindle of the bunch is the entry-level Kindle for $29.99. It’s the current model that Amazon is selling for $89.99 right now, so that’s a great price, but it appears to be the earlier 4GB version.

They also have the Kindle Paperwhite 3 available for $34.99. Even though it’s an older model, it actually has a better screen and longer battery life than the current entry-level model so it’s easily worth an extra $5.

The Kindle Paperwhite 4 is also available to purchase as well. It’s listed at $54.99 for the 8GB version and $69.99 for the 32GB model.

The leather cover for the Paperwhite 3 is only $14.99 and the Hunger Games covers for the Paperwhite 4 are $9.99. Both Paperwhites have the option to add a cover to get an extra $5 off as part of a bundle.

Woot also has the previous generation Kindle Oasis 1 and 2 on sale. The Kindle Oasis 2 is exactly the same as the current model minus the warm frontlight, and it can be had for only $89.99. The 32GB version is $119.99. The Kindle Oasis 1 is $79.99 and it comes with a charging cover.

See the Amazon Kindle and Fire Tablets page at Woot for the full list of deals.

What do you think of the Oasis in the context of other Amazon ereaders? It seems like it has a nice physical design, but not sure how the reading experience is.

I’d been using the Oasis as my main at-home ebook reader for years because I like the page buttons and screen size better than 6-inch Kindles, but I don’t like the wider design when it comes to portability. It’ll fit in some pockets without a case but not easily so I much prefer the old Voyage for taking places. But since the PW5 came along I like using it more than the Oasis. I like the screen on the PW5 better than the screen on the Oasis. It never used to bother me much but now I notice way more ghosting on the Oasis, whereas the PW5 has almost none. It just makes the screen look better without a bunch of artifacts from previous pages and menus scattered all over the place. I’m not sure if the Oasis 2 was like that. In fact I think it wasn’t because they advertise faster page turns on the 3, and I mentioned ghosting being more noticeable in my initial review of the 3.

I had an Oasis 2 before the 3 and I can verify, ghosting is worse on the newer one.
