I noticed that Onyx has recently started selling a case for the Boox Palma on Amazon from their official store, but they still don’t have the Palma listed for sale on Amazon. How does that make any sense?
The Boox Palma case is available in black or white to match the two color choices for the Palma, but I can’t figure out why they’d sell the case and not the device that goes with it, unless they’re planning on adding the Palma to their Amazon store as well.
Ever since Onyx launched their Amazon store, they’ve never sold their smaller 6-inch and 7-inch models on Amazon for some reason. But they’ve always sold their 7.8-inch models and their larger Boox eNotes on Amazon so it doesn’t really make any sense.
At $279 for the 6.13″ Palma, there should be plenty of headroom to cover Amazon’s seller fees. The 7-inch Boox Page isn’t exactly cheap at $249 either so why doesn’t Onyx sell their smaller devices on Amazon too?
The weird thing is they’re selling the Palma from B&H and Best Buy in the US, and it’s finally back in stock at B&H, but it’s nowhere to be found on Amazon, just the case.
The Palma has been out of stock more often than it’s been available since it was released in September so it seems to be more popular than expected. Hopefully they’ll start ramping up production and start selling the Palma on Amazon at some point too. I think more people are interested in smaller pocketable ereaders now that everything is trending larger. I’m still holding out for a less-expensive Palma Lite, but we’ll see what 2024 brings.

Do you know if this is capable of inverted color / dark background with white lettering?
Lin says
The OS itself is not capable of inverted color like with a Kindle. However, since it is an android OS, you can install third party apps from the Google Play or F-Droid and various reader apps like Moon Reader, ReadEra, etc have dark mode.
Nathan says
Yeah, it’s kind of odd considering Onyx has the most advanced software by far, but yet they don’t offer a dark mode feature. Like Lin said, other apps have it but it doesn’t usually work as well when it’s not an officially supported feature (there’s more ghosting, the text is less clear).

Thank you to both for answering.
