Onyx’s Massive 13.3″ Tab X C Now Available to Order on Amazon

May 8, 2025 by Nathan Leave a Comment

Boox Tab X C

A couple weeks ago Onyx revealed their first eNote with a 13.3-inch color E Ink screen called the Tab X C. They’ve started shipping initial orders, and it’s now available to purchase directly from Onyx’s official Amazon store.

The price is pretty steep at $819 in the US. That’s almost $200 more expensive than the Remarkable Paper Pro, but Onyx’s software is a lot more capable and advanced with the upgraded hardware and open Android software.

There really isn’t anything that compares with the Tab X C outside of Onyx’s other 13.3″ models, but those lack color. Onyx has been releasing these large 13.3″ E Ink eNotes for many years now (I reviewed one back in 2018, the Boox Max2, and it’s surprising how huge these 13.3″ screens are in person), but that size has never caught on with other brands.

A lot of people really seem to like Onyx’s 13.3″ models, despite the high price. They also sell a version called the Note Max that has a regular a black and white E Ink screen. It’s a bit less expensive at $689, but it lacks a frontlight.

The one thing about the Tab X C that differs from Onyx’s other eNotes is the fact that it uses a new type of stylus. Onyx’s eNotes have long used Wacom touchscreens, which are widely used and there are a number of compatible styli you can buy for them, but now Onyx is switching to a different tech that requires using their “InkSpire” stylus, which opens a lot of questions about compatibility and writing feel.

Like most color E Ink devices, the Tab X C supports 300 ppi for black and white content and 150 ppi for color, and it has a frontlight with temperature control. It runs Android 13 and it has access to the Google Play Store to install apps. Check this earlier post for a list of specs.
