Remarkable Paper Pro Move Released – An Overpriced 7.3″ eNote

September 3, 2025 by Nathan Groezinger 7 Comments

Remarkable Paper Pro Move

Remarkable has released a new smaller notetaking device called the Remarkable Paper Pro Move, and it uses the same Gallery 3 based color E Ink screen as the larger Remarkable Paper Pro that was released last year, but in a smaller 7.3″ format.

Remarkable is currently the only company selling devices that use E Ink’s Gallery 3 color screens, which have actual colored micropixels instead of using a color filter layer like Kaleido screens. They’re supposed to have better color quality, with support for 20,000 colors (as opposed to 4096 with Kaleido screens), and better clarity without the filter layer.

However, Remarkable seems to go out of their way to never show anything but basic handwriting on the screen. They never show what the color screens are capable of at all. I sat through the entire 7 minute launch video (embedded below) and all they ever show is a few scribbles in 2-second flashes. And the few pictures they have on their website show very little in terms of color as well.

Nevertheless, the new Remarkable Paper Pro Move is the second device to use what Remarkable calls their Canvas Color Display. As noted above, the device has a 7.3″ screen, but it has a narrower ratio than most eNotes and ereaders with E Ink screens. The resolution is 1696 x 954, which translates to 264 ppi (the larger 11.8″ Paper Pro has 229 ppi).

The screen also comes equipped with a frontlight, and it has a textured glass front layer for better writing feel. Battery life is rated at up to 2 weeks. The overall dimensions are 195.6 x 107.8 x 6.5mm, and the weight is 230 grams.

Specs are sparse. All the website says about the Remarkable Paper Pro Move is it has 64GB of internal storage, a USB-C port, and it supports dual-band WiFi. Writing speed is 12 milliseconds and the pen-to-ink distance is 920 µm, as if the average person has any way to know if that’s good or not.

The price is where things really start to get shaky. They’re charging $449 for the Paper Pro Move with the basic stylus. The premium stylus adds an extra $50, and of course they’re selling covers for a small fortune too (the premium leather cover is $139).

You can learn more about the new Paper Pro Move on the Remarkable website. The bundle packages are already available to purchase on Amazon, and they’re shipping now.

I was excited about this but given the limited reading capabilities and price( starting at whopping 779 AUD in Australia), it’s a let down. I wish amazon releases kindle scribe in small form factor with gallery 3. May be same size as iPad mini.

I think a mini note-taking e-reader is a good idea but not for the same price as a much larger note-taking e-reader. Inflation and tarrifs aside, there has to be a balance.

IMO, overpriced companion device for people that already own another Remarkable device. So many reviewers on YouTube seem to be giving this positive press. I don’t get it. Can you really take, modify large notes and drawings on this…seems to be useful for taking short, quick notes only. I would not trust pocketing such an expensive device. I just don’t see the user value unless it is used in tandem with a larger Remarkable device, as a sync able, input device…to use on the go. Buyers of this would probably be a subset of current Remarkable owners.

Hopefully, the Gallery screens have improved.

I was surprised at the high price of the Move. However, the Kobo Libra Colour with the stylus is $300, and the Move has a better screen and much better construction. Thus, although it is overpriced, it is only about $100 too high. Also consider that the iPad mini is about $600 with a stylus.

I like that, unlike my Libra 2, the Move is pocketable, and the reviews for the Move are largely positive. I am strongly considering getting one, although at $500 plus, this is an expensive extravagance. However, this would be much more useful to me than any $1000 cell phone.

I guess it implements an easily breakable screen… Perfect to bring it everywhere

Yeah, on one hand I don’t understand how E Ink keeps getting by with selling screens that are so easily broken, especially when they have the technology to make screens that are practically unbreakable. But on the other hand, I’ve been using ereaders for 16 years I’ve still never broken an E Ink screen. But after cracking the front layer on my Kindle Voyage’s screen, it’s something I’m always aware of, and it does keep me from using ereaders in certain situations. I really liked the Boox Palma 2, but I was too afraid of breaking it by keeping it in a pocket all the time so I elected to get rid of it. If it would have had a plastic-based Mobius E Ink screen I definitely would have kept it.

I’m wondering who’s the target audience for this product. The device’s screen is really narrow and it’s unfair to compare it to the iPad Mini because the device actually resembles a plus-sized iPhone. Is this really the aspect ratio that their customers are looking for?
