Last month Kobo released a Kobo Remote for Kobo ereaders, and it’s quite possibly their most popular product. It already has 224 reviews on Kobo’s website, which is pretty impressive considering it was sold out for the first few weeks, and it already has almost half as many reviews as both Kobo Clara models that were released in 2024.
Amazon really should follow Kobo’s lead on this and release an official Kindle Remote for Kindles; they’d be foolish not to.
Just look at all the Kindle remote page turners being sold on Amazon. There are literally dozens of different options, and some have sold over 10k units during the past month.
The problem with those 3rd party Kindle remotes is they require a clip-on module to be placed on the Kindle that physically touches the screen because Kindles don’t support Bluetooth page turners like most other brands of ereaders.
If Amazon were to release their own remote, they’d surely set it up to work over Bluetooth like Kobo did with their remote. That would eliminate the need for a clunky clip-on receiver module, and it could work with other things like paging backwards, unlike the clip-on remotes (unless you attach one to each side).
At this point Amazon has to know that remote page turners are a popular accessory for Kindles. I can’t see them letting this sales opportunity going unanswered in 2026. It’s time for Amazon to come out with their own Kindle page turners that work over Bluetooth (they really should add Bluetooth keyboard support to the Scribe models too while they’re at it).
