New Kindle Paperwhite Out of Stock, Here’s How to Get One Before Christmas

December 14, 2018 by Nathan

Kindle Paperwhite 4

Amazon put the new waterproof Kindle Paperwhite on sale for $99 earlier in the week, and it must be selling well because most variants are currently on backorder until December 25th, according to Amazon’s website.

In fact the only version of the new Kindle Paperwhite that’s currently in stock is the most expensive version with 32GB of storage space and cellular connectivity.

The 8GB version with ads and without says it’s not available until December 25th, which makes it a poor choice for a Christmas gift.

However, there’s still a way to get a new Kindle Paperwhite for $99 in time for Christmas.

All you have to do is head over to Best Buy, one of Amazon’s authorized retailers. They still have the Kindle Paperwhite in stock for $99 with free shipping.

I bet Amazon will get some more in too before Christmas if you’d rather buy from them. Even though their website says the Paperwhite won’t be in stock until December 25th, Amazon is usually super conservative about their dates when something comes back in stock. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it back in stock and shipping next week, but if you want to make sure to get one before Christmas buying one from Best Buy is the safest bet.

The same goes for the entry-level Kindle. The black version is also listed as in stock on December 25th at Amazon, but it’s available from Best Buy right now. However, for only $20 more there’s no reason not to get the new Paperwhite 4 instead. A $79 price for the lower-end Kindle no longer makes any sense whatsoever.

I ordered my PW4 on December 14th and was given an estimated delivery date of Wednesday, January 2 – Monday, January 7. The very next day Amazon sent me an email changing the dates to December 20 – December 26. It’s out for delivery today… 🙂
