For some reason Amazon hasn’t been doing very many Kindle sales lately, not regular sales anyway. In fact Kindles have only been on sale once since early December, aside from a couple of minor deals for a day or two here and there.
Instead they’ve been offering a different deal lately that takes 20% off when buying two Kindles. The offer applies to all current Kindle models when buying new, and the offer is valid until April 30th or whenever they decide to offer a regular sale again.
The 20% off deal isn’t as good as a typical Kindle sale unless you’re buying the more expensive models, but on the plus side the Kindle Oasis is included in the offer, which they usually only put on sale a couple of times per year for Prime Day and Black Friday.
Getting 20% off can be a good deal on the Kindle Oasis, but it’s less than a typical sale on the base Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite. You can save up to $140 with the 32GB Kindle Oasis with cellular connectivity, but if you’re only buying two entry-level Kindles for $89 each then you’re only saving about $36 on both, which isn’t great considering they are often $30 off for one during a regular sale.
Amazon also has another long-standing 20% off deal when trading in an old Kindle to buy a new one. You also get a credit for the old Kindle in addition to getting 20% off.
I’m not 100% sure if the two offers can be combined, but they probably can. Amazon usually lets you double dip on regular Kindle sales with trade-in discounts so I don’t see why this would be any different.
Amazon will most likely run a regular Kindle sale later this month a couple weeks before Mother’s Day, so you might hold out a little longer if you just one of the less expensive Kindles.
