Kobo is running a summer sale on two of their larger models, the Kobo Sage and the Kobo Elipsa 2E. They’re both on sale at Amazon and on Kobo’s website.
The Kobo Sage is marked down to $239 ($30 off) and the Kobo Elipsa 2E is on sale for $349 ($50 off).
Both double as ereaders and eNotes, although the Sage doesn’t come with a stylus so you have to purchase one separately to use the notebook features (however, you don’t have to pay $70 for Kobo’s overpriced pen; other MPP styli will work as well).
The Kobo Sage has an 8-inch E Ink screen, which is rather unique. It has 300 ppi and a frontlight with adjustable color temperature. The device is also waterproof, and it has page-turn buttons on one side of the screen.
The Kobo Elipsa 2E lacks waterproofing and the page-turn buttons, and it has a lower resolution 227 ppi screen, but it has a larger 10.3-inch E Ink display, and it comes with a Kobo Stylus 2 for notetaking and drawing. See my Kobo Elipsa 2E review for more details about the device and to watch a video review of it in action.
Both models have 32GB of storage space, and both support dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, Kobo’s audiobooks, and both have USB-C ports.
This is kind of a weird sale considering people often prefer smaller models for traveling during the summer. Too bad Kobo didn’t discount any of their smaller ereaders. The Kobo Libra Colour is on sale in the UK right now, but Kobo hasn’t put any of their new models on sale in the US or Canada yet. And it’s weird how they’re still selling the 1st gen Kobo Elipsa for the same price as the newer version, even though it was replaced over a year ago now—what’s the deal with that?

Glad the Ellipsa 2E is on sale.
But the Onyx Boox Go 10.3, without sale price, is only 30 dollars more.
Yes, the Go 10.3 is without frontlight, but it has Android 12 and 300 ppi screen resolution.
I got no horse in this race, and use ereaders from both manufacturers. But Kobo has been slower on advancing their tech. The Ellipsa was released about fifteen months ago. A 300 ppi Ellipsa would be more compelling. Onyx readers go on sale even less often than Kobo readers.

It would be interesting to hear from someone who has tried both the Sage and Elipsa, as I am mulling the purchase of one or the other.

I only have the Sage. Great screen, fairly poor battery life.
