Amazon has put some of the new Kindles for 2024 on sale again. The prices aren’t quite as low as they were for Black Friday, but at $134.99 the price of the Kindle Paperwhite is only $5 higher than it was then.
The best deal is the Kindle Paperwhite Kids for $144.99. You get a cover and an upgraded 2-year warranty for an extra $10 compared to the regular Kindle Paperwhite, but if you want to get 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free then the base Paperwhite is the better option.
The kids Kindles are the same as regular Kindles. They just come with a cover and a better warranty, along with a 6-month free subscription to Amazon Kids+ for access to a library of content for kids.
It’s funny. The new Kindle Paperwhite was just released less than 2 months ago and this is already the second time that it’s been on sale.
Oddly enough, the new basic Kindle for 2024 isn’t on sale this time around, but the kids version of it is. In fact, the kids model is the same price so you’re basically getting a case and an upgraded warranty for free by getting it instead. The only weird thing about the kids version is it’s only available in black—the matcha green version isn’t an option.
Another weird thing about this sale, only the black version of the Kindle Paperwhite is on sale. The pink and green colors are both full price. The upgraded Signature Edition is also full price.

Amazon Germany Kindle Scribe 26% off. Not as good as on Black Friday, but not bad.

Hi, could you please help me decide which kindle will be a better gift for a kid who may read the occasional graphic novel? Screen size aside, would either be capable of running graphic novels, or even a pdf? And would one be faster? Thanks, and thanks for running this site.
Nathan says
The Paperwhite is a bit faster but it’s not a big difference. Either is going to work with graphic novels and PDFs, but a larger screen is better suited for that type of content.

I have the 11th generation PW, it is a refurbished device and works great, but i an debating on whether I should trade it in and get the news PW, I have no desire for the Colorsoft as I see it as way to expensive. For my color kindle stuff I use a very affordable Fire HD8 tablet. My eye sight is such I need the little larger screen or I would get the new kindle basic. I am trying to balance functionality with cost.

The screen size difference isn’t noticeable at all, but I like how the text stands out more on the new screen, and that can make it easier to read.
