Kindle Paperwhite Kids Bundle On Sale, and It’s Not Just for Kids

February 10, 2025 by Nathan Groezinger Leave a Comment

Kindle Paperwhite Kids Sale

Last week Amazon put the Kindle Colorsoft and the base Kindle Paperwhite on sale, and now the Kindle Paperwhite Kids bundle is on sale too, and it’s actually a better deal than the standard Paperwhite model for both kids and adults alike.

The Kindle Paperwhite Kids bundle normally sells for $179.99, but it’s currently marked down to $139.99 while it’s on sale, and you can also get an additional $20 off when buying 2.

You can save $5 by getting the regular Kindle Paperwhite while it’s on sale, but the kids’ bundle comes with a case and an upgraded 2-year warranty that covers accidental screen breakages, unlike the standard 1-year Kindle warranty, so it’s easily worth the extra $5 unless you want to get 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free, which isn’t offered on the kids model (it comes with a 6-month subscription to Amazon Kids+ instead, which is essentially a kids version of KU).

Despite what most people seem to think, there actually aren’t any differences between the regular Paperwhite and kids’ model; any Kindle can be used in kids mode or regular mode—it’s just marketing. The kids bundle just includes a cover, of which there are three designs to choose from (the Diary of a Wimpy Kid version costs $5 extra).

Amazon also has the Kids Essentials bundle on sale for $159.98, but it only adds a 9W wall charger that Amazon sells for $19.99 so the price is exactly the same when purchased separately—some deal that is.

One thing to note, kids Kindles used to be ad-free by default when they first started selling them for the previous generation Paperwhite, but that is no longer the case. They don’t show screensaver ads when using kids mode (that applies to all Kindles), but they do show advertisements when using regular mode unless you pay Amazon an extra $20. Lately I’ve been using kids mode as a workaround to avoid seeing ads since I’m too cheap to pay the fee.
