I came across a new eNote on Amazon that I’ve never heard of before, and a quick Google search suggests that pretty much nobody else has heard of it yet either.
The Musnap Aura C Paper Tablet appears to be a new eNote out of China with a 10.3″ color E Ink screen (Kaleido 3) that runs Android and comes with two stylus pens. They look like Wacom styluses but the tech isn’t specified in the listing; it just says the tablet supports 4096 levels of pressure (which is typical for Wacom touchscreens).
The product page is pretty sparse on details in general, but it does say the Musnap Aura C has a 2.0GHz octa-core CPU with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Battery life is estimated at up to 1-month with the 4000mAh battery.
The 10.3″ Kaleido 3 screen has a resolution of 2480 x 1860 with 300 ppi for black and white content and 150 ppi for color. A frontlight is included as well with warm and cool color temperatures (actually the listing uses the term backlight, but that’s technically impossible with E Ink).
The device is running Android 11, which an older version than most other eNotes (most run Android 13 or 14 these days), but there’s no mention of this new Musnap device supporting Google Play or being able to install Android apps so maybe it doesn’t matter as much.
The listing indicates that it also doubles as a reading device, and it supports a number of common formats (including EPUB, PDF, TXT, MOBI, AZW3, and others), although probably not any with DRM.
The Musnap Aura C is currently selling for $549 on Amazon, and it’s shipped by Amazon so the usual return rules apply. That price seems a little high considering the Boox Note Air 4C with the same screen sells for $529. Onyx is a well-established company that’s been selling Android eNotes for several years now so it’s a bit odd to see a new obscure company charging more for a similar product.
