Prime Day Kindle Deals are Much Better This Year Than Last

July 11, 2025 by Nathan Groezinger Leave a Comment

Prime Sales Kindle

I saw some reports online about how Prime Day sales are down this year. I don’t know it that’s true or not, but there’s also the fact that Amazon turned Prime “Day” into a 4-day event this year instead of 2 days like in years past so the sales are still ongoing through today.

I don’t know if this year’s deals are as good as last year’s when it comes to non-Kindle products, but one thing that I know for sure is the Prime Day deals for 2025 are much better on Kindles than they were last year, especially on the Kindle Paperwhite.

Last year when I posted the list of Prime Day sales I called them the worst deals ever (I actually forgot about that when putting together the list this year), and those “sales” were truly pathetic.

Last year Amazon only took $15 off the base Kindle Paperwhite and $10 off the Signature Edition. This year the base Kindle Paperwhite is $35 off and the Signature Edition is $50 off.

What’s even crazier about that is the deals last year were on the cheaper previous gen model that had been around for almost 3 years at that point. I thought Amazon would deeply discount the Paperwhite since it was likely to get replaced by a new model in a few months (and it was), but instead Amazon ran one of the worst sales ever.

The Kindle Scribe deals weren’t as good last year either. They only had the 16GB version on sale when purchased by itself. If you wanted higher storage capacity you had to buy a bundle package to get one on sale. The 32GB Essentials bundle was $315. This year the Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle for the 32GB model is only $285, and that’s for the newer Scribe model that’s $30 more expensive.

Both Kids bundles are cheaper this year too, despite the fact both are $10 more expensive now with the newer models than they were last year.

The one model that isn’t cheaper this year is the 2024 Kindle. At $85 it’s the same price as the 2022 Kindle was last year during Prime Day, but they did raise the price of the new one by $10 when it was released so it is a slightly better deal this year than last.

The past couple of Black Friday sales on Kindles have been pretty disappointing too. I wonder if things will be different this year after these Prime Day sale were much better than last year.
