Onyx has quietly released a new version of the Boox Go 6 with a white exterior. It’s available to order on Amazon for $159.99 with free shipping, and it’s expected to ship in a couple of weeks.
At this point it’s unclear if they changed anything other than the color. Onyx first released the Boox Go 6 around this time last year, and they usually do incremental updates each year.
At a minimum maybe they updated the Android version. The black Boox Go 6 runs Android 11, which is older than the Android version on some of Onyx’s newer models that come with Android 13. It rarely matters when it comes to reading apps, but later versions are usually preferable.
It looks like this new white version might have an indented screen instead of a flush front layer, but it’s hard to tell for sure from the pictures. Some of Onyx’s white models have different front layers or no front layer at all. Onyx doesn’t specify on their website with the Boox Go 6.
The listing for the white Boox Go 6 on Amazon doesn’t give much for details either, but based on the black version we know this model has a 6″ black and white E Ink Carta 1300 screen with 300 ppi and a frontlight with adjustable color temperature.
Assuming the specs for the white Boox Go 6 are the same as the black, you can expect the device to have an octa-core CPU with 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, and a microSD card slot. It supports dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, and it sports a USB-C port with OTG and audio support. The battery size is listed at 1500 mAh, and the overall weight of the device is only 146 grams.
There are a lot of ereaders coming out in white lately. I guess that’s the new thing, and Onyx already has white versions of some of their other models so a white Boox Go 6 makes sense.
