Amid the numerous Kindle bundle listings that are on sale for Prime Big Deals Day, I noticed a new Kindle Colorsoft bundle that curiously isn’t on sale, and that’s probably because it hasn’t been released yet.
Amazon has a Limited-Edition Kindle Colorsoft The Summer I Turned Pretty Bundle available to pre-order for $319.99, and it’s getting released on October 28th. Who knows how “limited” the bundle is, but Amazon says only a “few units” are available.
The bundle includes the 16GB version of the Kindle Colorsoft, along with a custom cover and all 3 ebooks in the series.
The ebooks sell for $9.99 each so that comes to $29.97 for the collection. The 16GB Kindle Colorsoft sells for $249.99 normally when it’s not on sale, so that means the custom TSITP cover basically costs $40.
It’s kind of surprising Amazon doesn’t do more custom Kindle bundles for popular authors and series. They do have the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Bundle with the Kindle Paperwhite, but it doesn’t even come with any of the ebooks, just a subscription that provides limited access to the books.
They could just sell custom covers for popular series too, and plenty of people would be interested in that, especially if authors sold limited edition signed covers. There’s a market in there somewhere that hasn’t been cracked yet.

Annoyed as I am that every Amazon cover costs $40, it’s comforting to know that if they do release custom cases based on books, they won’t charge extra just for the licensing rights.
I’m not a fan of the series, but I am open to the idea of cases based on books, sold separately and not part of a bundle. I already have 3 Kindles actively in use, I don’t need more.
Amazon’s official covers are a bit pricey, but they tend to hold up better than the 3rd party cases I’ve tried, and you can usually get “like new” ones for really cheap. Their plant-based leather covers are currently going for $7.97 in like new condition, and the premium leather cover can be had for $17.74.
Yeah, I bought a FINTIE case for my Colorsoft for $20. Within two months, I noticed a white border developing on the sides of the front cover and on the crease of the flap. I think the oils on my hands were dissolving the colors, and the flap doesn’t like the constant opening and closing.
I replaced it with a Jade plant leather Amazon cover. I like the feel a lot better then the FINTIE, and first party covers for older Kindles lasted a good 2-3 years before they needed to be replaced.
Amazon also offered a special edition of kids+ kindles with the cat warrior series. I wish they would offer these cases separately.
