Kobo recently issued a firmware update for the Kobo Libra 2 that reportedly improves the stability of the Bluetooth connection when using the Kobo Remote.
The new software version is 4.38.23648, and so far it’s only available for the Kobo Libra 2 specifically, although it sounds like Kobo is expected to release it for their other older models eventually.
Your Kobo Libra 2 should get a notification about the update while syncing, or your can download the update from this Kobo Firmware Updates page and install it manually (directions are at the top of that page).
Release notes for 4.38.23648:
Bluetooth
Improves stability of Kobo Libra 2’s connection to Kobo Remote
After the Kobo Remote came out, there were a lot of reports of the Kobo Libra 2 dropping the connection intermittently, so hopefully this update fixes that problem.
There are still some reports of excessive battery drain when using the Kobo Remote with the Libra 2, even after the update, so apparently that hasn’t been fixed yet. Maybe there’s just something different about Bluetooth on the older models that causes them to use more power.
Kobo released a software update for their newer models last month (the Clara BW, Clara Colour and Libra Colour). It started out as version 4.45.23640 but then they updated it again after a few days to version 4.45.23646. It’s still unclear what that update actually does; the release notes just say stability improvements and bug fixes.
