I’ve been seeing a few different posts online about Amazon offering special “upgrade” deals for select Kindle customers that have older Kindles registered to their account, and the deals are surprisingly good.
Some people are getting offers for the Kindle Paperwhite at $99, or $115 for the upgraded Signature Edition model, and the Kindle Colorsoft is going for $127, or $175 for the Signature Edition Colorsoft. The basic Kindle is going for $88, but that’s only 20% off so it’s not as good as the other deals.
These are targeted deals so only select Amazon accounts are eligible for the offer. The “upgrade” deals seem to require owning an older Kindle and not having a newer Kindle registered to your account.
My account isn’t eligible for the offer so I can’t confirm all the stipulations, and I don’t know exactly which Kindles and bundles are being discounted for the deal, but there’s this post on reddit with some additional details, and proof of the upgrade offer with the screenshot above.
Someone posted a list of terms for the deal as follows:
“This is a limited time promotion for select customers who have one of the following devices registered to their Amazon account: Kindle (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016), Kindle DX (2009, 2010), Kindle Keyboard (2010), Kindle Touch (2011), Kindle Paperwhite (2012, 2013, 2015), Kindle Voyage (2014), Kindle Oasis (2016, 2017), Kindle Paperwhite (2018), Kindle X Migu (2017).”
It sounds like few accounts will be eligible for this upgrade deal, but it’s worth checking Amazon’s Kindle product pages to see if you get the “upgrade” offer because those are some really good deals on the Paperwhite and Colorsoft. I highly doubt Prime Day prices will go lower than that. It seems like it might be the Prime Day price minus 20%, but we’ll have to wait until Prime Day to confirm that.
