Boyue has released a new 10-inch Likebook ereader and E Ink notepad with a budget price of $339, making it the least expensive 10-inch ereader on the current market.
The new Likebook P10 costs $140 less than the cheapest 10-inch Onyx ereader, but it comes with some notable hardware downgrades that make it a questionable buy.
The Likebook P10 uses a different screen panel than all the other 10-inch ereaders on the market. Most devices have 10.3-inch E Ink screens with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 with 227ppi, using either a Mobius or Carta screen. But the Likebook P10 uses a lower resolution 1600 x 1200 10-inch Carta screen with 200ppi.
On the plus side the screen does feature a frontlight with both warm and cool color temperatures, and it has a flat tempered glass cover-lens.
The P10 also uses a capacitive stylus pen instead of having a Wacom touchscreen like most note-taking ereaders, and it doesn’t even come with a stylus—it has to be purchased separately.
They’re also using a quad-core processor instead of the octa-core processor that other Likebooks come with, and it lacks a memory card slot, but it does have 64GB of internal space and 2GB of RAM.
Other specs include a 3900mAh battery, USB-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and it supports dual band Wi-Fi. It’s a bit on the heavy side at 458 grams.
The Likebook P10 runs Android 8.1 and is open to install Android apps. The built-in ebook app supports ePub, PDF, and a number of other text formats.
Even with the hardware downgrades it’s nice to see the price of 10-inch ereaders continuing to go down. $339 is a reasonable price for a 10-inch ebook reader with an E Ink screen.
However, the Likebook P10 currently isn’t being sold on Amazon like other Likebooks. It’s only available from AliExpress and ships from China. Perhaps it will show up outside of China eventually.

I think it might cheaper and faster than the competition e.g. the The PocketBook Inkpad X because with Android you are the end product or the sheep to be fleeced because data is the new oil. That is why google gives away Android, google search, and email etc… for FREE ! There is no such thing as a free lunch. Android is highly insecure compared to Apple’s offerings.
Also, I’m not necessarily claiming Boyue has malware on it but honestly while most corporations are like psycophathic entities, regardless of what nation they are based in, the Chinese are responsible for about 41% of all cybercrime and hacking I think according to a report I read 5 years ago so it might be worst now.
That being said all ereaders fleece your data to some degree i.e. kindle , kobo (google analytics etc..) , nook , pocketbook etc.. but I think Likebook and Onyx are the worst or have the potential to be the worst in these regards.
I just sold my Onyx boox poke 3 on ebay for these reasons and while you can call me paranoid I would think that is ignorant and if you doubt me try reading the book “Future Crimes” by Marc Goodman. The problem is worse than most people realize.

If you’re worried about it just keep Wi-Fi turned off. Problem solved. Me, I could care less if the Chinese know what ebooks I’m reading. It’s not like you’re going to be doing your taxes and managing bank passwords on an ebook reader.

And if the Chinese can read along, then it’s pretty certain the NSA can’t.
I wouldn’t even care.

I doubt in important enough for the Chinese government or even just Onyx Boox to care about my daily planner, or the notes I took in the meeting about making a SharePoint page for facilities. The absolutely most valuable information they might get from me is a pseduocode snippet of some single function on an obscure internal application. My books are mostly technical manuals available freely on the internet. My neighbors get more useful information looking out their windows.

Ahhh these Covid days and the invasion of the capitol… Lots of saying and minsinformation flying left and right. Now xiaomi is on the list of the bad Chinese companies…
To bring back the real in reality, I would advise watching the documentary “the social dilemma”…. and for good measure then listen to the NPR Planet Money on TikTok and why it’s still available to download:

Finally, pick a book about something less depressing than dystopian futures… What about murakami?
Vicente says
Nowadays, now it’s depressing. Read “Permanent recordd”, Edward Snowden. It’s not the future; it’s now.

como libro lo considero muy bueno, las instrucciones están muy mal traducidas y escasa, por ejemplo, quiero cambiar la imagen de pantalla de bloqueo y no encuentro como
