6″ Kindle On Sale for $49 – Today Only

January 16, 2022 by Nathan 5 Comments

Kindle

Amazon has the entry-level Kindle on sale again for one of their main Deals of the Day, along with some top wishlist ebooks, but it’s a one day only sale for January 16th.

The ad-supported version of the Kindle is marked down to $49.99; it’s $69.99 without ads. That matches Amazon’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday price so it’s a pretty good deal. The basic Kindle normally sells for $89.99 with ads.

See my 2019 Kindle review for more details and to watch a video of the device in action.

Unfortunately the new Kindle Paperwhite isn’t on sale, but I’m still seeing the 25% off deal when paying with monthly installments for Kindle Unlimited members (YMMV).

Here’s the link to the Kindle ebook sale with top wishlist reads for $4.99 or less. It’s also a one day only sale for January 16th (Amazon usually has a list of Kindle ebooks on sale every Sunday).

It seems like they are going to be updating their basic line in the near future (I’m guessing, because of how many times this has been on sale, so steeply).

I wonder if the new one will be 300dpi, but, without the warm light.

I think a 300ppi basic model without any flush front layer would be great, but Amazon has been stuck at 167ppi since the very first Kindle was first released so that probably won’t happen, but maybe they’ll finally upgrade to 212ppi, at least.

Nathan, Thank you for your hard work. I would have been interested in the Kindle but did not receive this until today the 17th at 7:19 am. This has happened more than once. Just thought you would like to know.

I subscribe to the blog update emails and they arrive in my inbox a full 24 hours after posted here. Is there a setting where I can speed that up? This post highlighted why this can be an issue. Thx!

It depends on how you’re subscribed. The Google Feedburner emails were supposed to be discontinued last summer but for some reason Google is still sending them out. However, the times are really erratic and there’s no control over it. But if your subscribed via Follow.it you can set the time of delivery to whatever you want. There seems to be a bit of a delay so a time in the late afternoon would probably be best.
