Barnes and Noble is advertising a new Nook on their website, but it’s not really new and it’s barely even a Nook.
It’s actually the same 9″ Nook Lenovo Tablet that was released earlier this year, but it’s now available in a Frost Blue color. It even has its own separate page and everything. It’s available to pre-order now, and the release date is set for October 16th. The price is $149.99.
Barnes and Noble first announced the Nook 9″ Lenovo tablet back in February of this year, but it wasn’t released until May. This new version appears to be exactly the same in every way; it’s just a different color. It’s a lot like the Lenovo Tab M9, but with a few differences.
For the most part, it’s a typical mid-level Android tablet with average specs and a specialized pre-loaded version of the Nook app, which supports in-app purchases, unlike the standard Nook Android app. The tablet runs Android 13 and has Google Play onboard to install apps.
The 9″ LCD screen has a resolution of 1340 x 800. It has 64GB of internal storage, and a there’s a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 128GB. It supports dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, it has a USB-C port, front (2MP) and rear (8MP) cameras, dual speakers, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It has an octa-core CPU (MediaTek Helio G80) and it most likely has 4GB of RAM, even though B&N doesn’t bother to mention that anywhere. Battery life is rated at up to 13 hours.
Check out B&N’s website for more details.
It also looks like B&N has discontinued their least-expensive Nook ereader, the Nook 4e, which was usually “on sale” for $99. It’s no longer listed on the Nook section of their website, and it doesn’t show up on their comparison page anymore either, so it looks like it’s been phased out.
It came out in 2022 after the Glowlight 4, which B&N is still selling, so it’s kind of weird that the 4e would be discontinued first. But maybe they have some new 6″ Nooks in the works.
