If you’re looking to get an eNote this holiday shopping season, Onyx has their 13.3″ Note Max and 10.3″ Go on sale, along with some keyboard bundles, and since Onyx rarely ever does sales now is a good time to get one at a discount.
The Boox Note Max is $50 off at $579. That’s actually a really good price; I don’t remember any 13.3″ eNotes ever selling for less than that, especially Onyx’s eNotes. Sony’s DPT-S1 was on sale once for $599 years ago when they were clearing them out, but I don’t recall Onyx’s 13.3″ models ever being priced this low, and this is their first 300 ppi model. The Note Max originally sold for $649 when it was released last December so that’s a pretty good discount.
The Boox Go 10.3 is on sale too, but it’s only $20 off at $389. It’s basically a smaller version of the Note Max with a 10.3″ E Ink screen, and it lacks some of the hardware upgrades (no BSR for faster refreshing, it has a Carta 1200 screen instead of 1300), and it runs Android 12 instead of Android 13. Neither of these models has a frontlight, and that can be a dealbreaker for some. But there are some advantages with that. The screen contrast is really good without the light layer, and the ink seems closer to the surface when writing and reading.
Both devices have Wacom touchscreens for notetaking, which is a plus since some of Onyx’s newer models use a different type of technology that isn’t quite as good.
Those are the only two models that are officialy on sale from Onyx. The Note Air 4C is still being discounted by $30, but the newer Note Air 5C is only $30 more so it’s surprising they didn’t drop the price even more for this holiday sale.
If you’re browsing Onyx’s store you might think the Boox Palma 2 is on sale for $30 off at $269, but it’s actually been that price for a couple of months now.
Onyx is offering these sale prices from their Amazon store and directly from their Boox Shop website. On their website they also have a deal that takes 50% off the keyboard cover accessory when buying the Note Max or Tab X C. They sell keyboard cover bundles on Amazon for the Note Max and Tab X C, but the prices are $10 higher. Onyx’s prices are often a bit lower on their website, but you have to be willing to waive your right to a reasonable return policy when ordering from their website—that’s why most people recommend buying from Amazon instead.
These sales are expected to run from Black Friday through December.
