Ever since Prime Day ended last month, Amazon hasn’t had much going on in the sales department as far as Kindles go, but now they have the Kindle Paperwhite Kids Bundle on sale, and it’s a lower price than buying the Kindle Paperwhite on its own, so it’s the better option for adults that are looking to buy a new Kindle too.
The Kindle Paperwhite kids bundle has four different options when it comes to choosing an included case. Two of the bundles are on sale for $154.99, and the other two are $164.99.
There’s a new “Summer Edition” cover (pictured above) that Amazon must’ve just released recently because I don’t remember seeing it before. It’s surprising they haven’t created Harry Potter kids bundles with the new Harry Potter cases they released earlier this month.
The Kindle Paperwhite kids bundle includes an ad-supported Kindle Paperwhite, which sells for $159.99 on its own, a case available in four different designs, a 6-month subscription to Amazon Kids+, and an upgraded 2-year warranty, which also covers accidental breakages (like the screen cracking), unlike the standard 1-year warranty.
If you want to get rid of the ads you’ll have to pay Amazon an extra $20 from the manage your devices page on their website, the same as regular Kindles. But if you’re using the Kindle in kids mode it won’t show ads either way; it will show random screensaver images on the sleep screen instead of advertisements while turned off.
One weird thing about the kids bundles is the Kindle devices are only available in black. The Kindle Paperwhite is normally available in three colors, but for reasons that never made any sense to me the black color is the only option when it comes to the kids bundles. And the kid-friendly covers can’t be purchased separately so you cannot build your own bundle using a green or pink Paperwhite either.
